Due to the overwhelming response to 3 Minute Blunts Vol. # 1, were back with a bigger & better collection of musical Hip Hop blunts from Detroit. "Bigger" because this compilation features 23 tracks (Vol. # 1 featured 17), and better because of the five rap tracks included on this project.
Some of the featured rappers include Sakinah "Sah-B" Britton who was formerly signed with Marly Marls COLD CHILLIN’ / WARNER label and was recently featured on Brownstone’s top ten hit "Kiss & Tell" (MJJ/Sony), Dishon "Click" White is formerly of the rap group Arrested Development, and James Sims a.k.a. Kanabis The Edit Assassin appeared on Dj Red Alert’s first compilation album release which also featured acts like Salt `n Pepa.
This second installment of the 3 Minute Blunt series is also much more diverse by showcasing a taste of Detroit’s old school & underground vibe such as Dj Slym Fas, Andre Johnson Project, and Terrence Parker and new artists like Chris Shivers, Louis Heravo, and Sample O.S. all blow up the spot on this 74 minute monster.
The goal of 3 Minute Blunts Vol. # 1 was to showcase a different side of Detroit’s music culture – Hip Hop! Although Detroit is today referred to as the birth place of Techno, Hip Hop culture is more popular and wide spread throughout the city and it’s suburbs.
Terrence Parker, known more for his years of contribution to the house music scene, conceived the 3 Minute Blunts concept in 1996. He thought it would be a good way of giving Detroit’s Hip Hop scene worldwide exposure by presenting some of the music on a cd/album compilation at a minimum of 3 minutes in length using mostly an instrumental format. The 3 Minute Blunts projects however should not be viewed as a complete representation of Detroit Hip Hop. In fact, Vol. # 2 features rappers and producers based in the cities of Atlanta, New York, New Jersy and Detroit making this project even more interesting. But don’t get it confused
